August Loomis Financial Newsletter

This month we have included a number of articles you may find interesting regarding investing, investment diversification and the international markets.

A reminder when coming in for your review, to make the time as productive as possible we would ask you to bring along the following documents that are relevant to your situation:

         Most recent tax return/s

         Paylsip/s

         Share Holder statements

         Print out of bank balances

         Details of current Centrelink entitlements

Copy of your estate planning documentation

With respect to Centrelink and our Nominee Arrangement, if you would like us to update your bank account balances we will need you to provide us with a print out from your financial institution (has to state your name, address and balance) to enable us to keep Centrelink informed.  Centrelink will no longer accept ATM balance receipts.

A reminder for those of you with MLC Managed Investment Portfolios, the Annual Tax Statements will be sent out from the end of August with the last being finalised in November.  You may receive your annual statements prior to this, however these will not be sufficient for your accountant.

If you would like to discuss this, or any other part of your portfolio please contact either Tim or Debra on 02 6562 2295.

ThreeSixty Research Market Update - August 2019

Highlights:

  • Central banks have engaged in a policy reversal in response to weaker economic growth and the uncertainties associated with the US-China trade conflict.

  • US inflation has inched higher, but core CPI measures and sluggish wages growth still point to spare capacity in the labour market.

  • The UK’s new prime minister Boris Johnson will enter Brexit talks with the EU, but Europe’s negotiators are unwilling to agree to the removal of the Irish backstop.

  • Fears of further economic fallout from the trade conflict were partially allayed following positive growth in Chinese exports in July.

  • The Australian economy is benefitting from the rise in commodity prices, but the Australian dollar remains under pressure due to the diverging interest rate differential.
